Russian PR Entered World Community

Russian PR, a young branch of communication industry, started not more than 10 years ago. That's why the recent international recognition seems more unexpected and important: the Russian Public Relations Consultancies Association was accepted as a full-fledged member of International Committee of PR Consultancies Associations (ICO). This important decision was made at the First International ICO Congress in Switzerland in September 1999.

More than 270 participants from 30 countries gathered at this Congress to discuss the major industry trends, role of PR in communications mix, and prospects of PR as profession. The ICO membership applications were received from many countries, including Canada, India, Ukraine and Mexico. But only Russia was honored to become the 21st member of ICO. This was a very important move as the overall interest to Russia is growing and the Russian PR market is doing really well despite its youth.
